In a recent interview on “The Howard Stern Show,” Emily Blunt shared her experiences of having to fake chemistry with some of her co-stars over her illustrious career. Despite starring opposite many famous actors, Blunt confessed that connecting with some of them onscreen has been a challenge.
During the interview, which was featured on People, Howard Stern asked Blunt if she ever felt like throwing up while having to kiss her co-stars. The Oscar-nominated actress candidly replied, “Absolutely. Absolutely.”
Blunt admitted, “I wouldn’t say it’s sort of extreme loathing, but I’ve definitely not enjoyed some of it.” She chose not to reveal the names of the co-stars with whom she struggled but mentioned, “I have had chemistry with people who… I have not had a good time working with them.”
The actress explained the unpredictable nature of onscreen chemistry, saying, “Sometimes it’s a strange thing. Sometimes you could have a rapport that’s really effortless, but it doesn’t translate onscreen.” She described chemistry as something elusive and intangible, adding, “It’s just easier when you have a natural rapport with someone.”
Having spent years in the industry, Blunt has developed her own method for building chemistry. “I’ve got to find something I love about everybody. I have to find something… Even if it’s one thing,” she shared. It could be something as simple as their laugh or their politeness, she noted.
Blunt recently received an Oscar nomination for her role in “Oppenheimer,” which won Best Picture at the Academy Awards. She can currently be seen in the action romance “The Fall Guy,” alongside Ryan Gosling.
