Despite certain regions losing access to some earlier seasons, Heartland remains a beloved series on Netflix. Season 17 has been officially confirmed, but fans are eagerly awaiting news about its arrival on the streaming platform. The Heartland blog reports that filming for the upcoming season commenced on May 8th, and it’s noteworthy that the first episode of Season 17 will mark the show’s remarkable 250th episode milestone.
According to the blog, they’ve provided a brief glimpse of what viewers can anticipate in the upcoming season.
“In Season 17, the Heartland family understands better than most that while dreams can occasionally become a reality, life more often leads us down unexpected paths. The forthcoming season revolves around welcoming the unforeseen. It’s about encountering novel experiences and choosing the road less traveled. In Season 17, the Bartlett-Fleming family will find themselves eagerly looking forward to the future, prepared to embrace fresh adventures, confront new challenges, and nurture new relationships. Regardless of how much circumstances may evolve, Amy (Amber Marshall), Lou (Michelle Morgan), Jack (Shaun Johnston), and Tim (Chris Potter) will persist in their commitment to their values while remaining deeply connected to the ancestral land that has been a part of the Bartlett-Fleming family for generations.”
Determining when Season 17 of Heartland will arrive on Netflix depends on your location, and we’ll address this topic separately for different regions.
Why Heartland is no longer on Netflix Canada?
Starting with Canada, the series is currently unavailable for streaming in any form. This change aligns with CBC’s decision to withdraw most of its content from Netflix in the region. This transition took place in March 2023, affecting shows such as Kim’s Convenience, Murdoch Mysteries, and Schitt’s Creek. These titles, including Heartland, are now exclusively accessible through CBC and its CBC Gem service.
If you want to watch the top-rated show, Heartland Season 17, in the US or Australia, just use a VPN and connect to a Canadian server to start streaming.
Heartland Season 17’s Netflix release in the United States
For viewers in the United States, it’s important to note that Netflix often lags behind by two or three seasons. This pattern has persisted for years and shows no signs of altering. In the U.S., UP Faith & Family, the network, is granted a period of exclusivity for the show. They have recently confirmed this arrangement for the sixteenth season, and it’s reasonable to assume that it will persist for Season 17 as well. As a result, it’s unlikely that Heartland Season 17 will be available on Netflix in the United States until at least 2025.

Will there be a Heartland season 18?
As of now, CBC has not officially confirmed Season 18 of Heartland, but it’s important to note that it’s still quite early in the decision-making process. Historically, announcements regarding new seasons of Heartland are made during the spring. Therefore, it’s likely that fans will need to wait until then to receive confirmation about the show’s continuation.
At the moment, there’s no need for fans to be concerned about the possibility of Heartland coming to an end. Given the show’s high level of popularity, it seems highly improbable that it would be canceled. The chances are very strong that Heartland Season 18 will indeed become a reality on CBC.

Here’s a tentative schedule for Heartland’s availability on Netflix in the United States:
- Season 15 is confirmed for release on May 30th.
- Season 16 is expected to arrive in early to mid-2024.
- Season 17 is anticipated to become available in early to mid-2025.
For international Netflix viewers in at least 19 regions outside the United States, including Australia, the United Kingdom, Latin America, Asia, France, Israel, and India, the release schedule differs. These regions typically receive new seasons a year earlier than the U.S. audience. As an example, Season 16 was accessible in these regions in early 2023.
Therefore, based on the current show schedule, it’s reasonable to expect that Season 17 of Heartland will be accessible in all the aforementioned international regions in early to mid-2024.
However, it’s important to note that one drawback of watching the series in regions outside the United States is that the early seasons (Seasons 1 through 6) are no longer available on Netflix.
