The people have clearly expressed their interest, and they’re eager to watch “Naked Attraction.”
In just a week after its release in the United States, “Naked Attraction” has skyrocketed to become the most-watched series on the Max streaming service. This achievement is quite remarkable considering that the show is a 7-year-old British reality series that was quietly added to Max on September 20th, without any prior promotion. The show gained significant attention and online buzz following an article in the Hollywood Reporter over the weekend, which highlighted its controversial nature. Max’s Top 10 rankings are determined by the number of unique user accounts that have recently viewed newly added content (so older shows like “The Sopranos” are not included in this ranking). It will take some time before the official Nielsen ratings for the show are available.
The dating show involves single people who judge and eliminate potential dates while they are naked. The program includes very close and explicit shots of naked bodies and a lot of frank discussions, but it doesn’t show any sexual activity.
Surprisingly, social media has shown a positive response to the show. Many people appreciate that it presents and celebrates regular bodies at a time when there’s a lot of emphasis on perfect images.
Sunny Hostin, co-host of ABC’s “The View,” even admitted that she and her husband were so intrigued by the show that they watched it all in one day. She mentioned that she learned some new things and found it incredibly fascinating.
However, the show has faced criticism from conservative commentators. Ben Shapiro sarcastically called it “delightful” and linked it to a society overly focused on sexual desires. The Parents Television Council labeled it as “pornographic” and demanded its removal from the streaming service.
As for Max, they have not made any comments about the show. “Naked Attraction,” hosted by Anna Richardson, first aired in 2016 and has had six seasons, with a seventh currently running in the UK on Channel 4.
