This marks the second instance of the series being discontinued. The initial season of the comedy premiered on Max, securing a renewal for a second season before facing cancellation as part of a cost-cutting strategy.
Subsequently, Starz revealed their acquisition of the second season, planning to broadcast it alongside the first. Season 2 premiered on Starz on July 21, and both seasons are currently accessible for streaming on the Starz app and other platforms.
Despite garnering favorable reviews from critics, holding an impressive average critical approval rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes across both seasons, the show struggled to attract a substantial audience. During its linear airings on Starz, Season 2 averaged fewer than 100,000 viewers per episode, with no publicly available streaming viewership data.
Set in 1970s Los Angeles, “Minx” revolves around Joyce (Ophelia Lovibond), an earnest young feminist collaborating with a budget-conscious publisher (Jake Johnson) to establish the first erotic magazine for women. The ensemble cast includes Idara Victor, Jessica Lowe, Lennon Parham, Michael Angarano, and Oscar Montoya, with Elizabeth Perkins joining as a recurring character in the second season.
Created by Ellen Rapoport, who also served as the showrunner and executive producer, “Minx” had executive producers Paul Feig and Dan Magnante from Feigco Entertainment. Ben Karlin and Rachel Lee Goldenberg also served as executive producers, with Goldenberg directing the pilot. Jake Johnson took on the role of co-executive producer. Lionsgate Television produced “Minx.”
