The Golden Globe Awards are seeing some big changes. A few years ago, less than 100 people from Los Angeles decided the nominees and winners, but now, after the Hollywood Foreign Press Association was sold in 2023, around 300 voters from all over the world are involved.
This global spread has made it challenging for movie and TV companies to show their work to all the voters. To solve this, the Golden Globes are setting up an official streaming platform. This service will work with major digital providers like AppleTV, iOS, Roku, and Amazon Fire.

On this platform, companies can directly stream their films and shows to Globe voters at home. This new system is similar to what the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences uses for the Oscars, but it’s being managed by Indee, a company also serving the Producers Guild of America.
Indee promises strong security for the streamed content, with various options including both visible and hidden watermarks. It’s also more environmentally friendly than the traditional method of sending out physical copies.
There is a cost to upload content to this platform. Each upload includes a $5000 “Golden Globe administrative fee,” which also covers one promotional email to members. The fee varies depending on the type and security of the upload.
For episodes up to 60 minutes, it costs $100 with no security, $200 for medium security, and $350 for high security. For longer features, prices are $250 with no security, $1000 for medium, and $2000 for the highest level of security.
