John Wick: Chapter 4 leaves many questions unanswered about the High Table and the uncertain future of the franchise, Lionsgate is developing multiple prequels that focus on the past. In an interview with Collider’s Steven Weintraub, producer Erica Lee revealed that The Continental TV show will take viewers back to New York in the 1970s.
The Continental is a significant location in the John Wick franchise, serving as a hotel for assassins to seek refuge and gather resources between missions. While new Continental Hotels are introduced throughout John Wick’s journey, the primary establishment is managed by Winston Scott (Ian McShane) and his concierge Charon (Lance Reddick) in New York. The prequel will explore the origins of The Continental and what the lives of assassins were like before the hotel’s emergence.
The Continental Release Date on Peacock
The Continental spinoff series will consist of three 90-minute episodes, with each chapter functioning as a mini-movie. According to Lee, all three episodes are interconnected and there will be no time jumps between them. The setting will remain in New York City in 1970, with Colin Woodell taking on the role of a young Winston, replacing McShane, and Ayomide Adegun playing a young Charon. The series is expected to be available in September, as per Lee’s statement.
Will The Continental Be as Bloody as the John Wick Movies?
In each installment of the John Wick franchise, the protagonist engages in intense battles with hordes of adversaries, employing unique and inventive methods to take them down. While the films have a strong emotional foundation, the stunning set pieces are also a major draw for audiences. Will The Continental follow a similar action-oriented approach even without John Wick’s presence? Lee addresses this question by stating that viewers can expect the series to be action-packed as well.
