A “programming pop-up” is happening where more than 200 episodes from seven different series will be added to a special section on Max called “AMC+ Picks on Max.” This content will be free for both the versions of Max that have ads and the version without ads. The AMC content will not have any ads. This special section will start on September 1 and continue until October 31.
Some of the shows that will be added to Max include season one of Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire and Dark Winds, seasons one and two of Gangs of London, seasons one through seven of Fear the Walking Dead, seasons one through four of Killing Eve, seasons one through three of A Discovery of Witches, and seasons one through five of Ride With Norman Reedus.
The exact financial details of the agreement were not revealed, but Dan McDermott, who is in charge of entertainment and AMC Studios at AMC Networks, described the deal as a “promotional arrangement” in a statement.
According to McDermott, the aim is to share AMC Networks’ great shows with as many viewers as possible. He sees the deal with Warner Bros. Discovery as a great chance to offer their popular and well-received shows to millions of Max subscribers in the U.S. for two months.
This arrangement benefits both parties: AMC gets to showcase its programming and promote its streaming service AMC+, while Max gains access to a large collection of top-quality content for its audience to enjoy. This deal also highlights a willingness to try out new approaches in a competitive streaming landscape.
Meredith Gertler from Warner Bros. Discovery mentioned that Max subscribers look for a wide range of stories for everyone in the family. She sees the AMC+ collection pop-up as a creative strategy to enhance their content selection and provide more value to their viewers.
