The Flash television series on The CW has been airing for eight seasons and the ninth and final season is set to begin shortly. As is common for final seasons of shows that are aware they’re coming to an end, The CW is attempting to bring back as many actors from the show’s past as possible and has recently announced the return of another group of actors to the cast.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the last season of the show will feature the return of Jessica Parker Kennedy (Nora West-Allen/XS), Rick Cosnett (Eddie Thawne), and Matt Letscher (Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash). This news may not come as a surprise since all three characters were guest stars in earlier seasons of The Flash and Letscher appeared as Thawne in the final season of Legends of Tomorrow. Although his character was killed in that show, Eobard Thawne is known for his ability to cheat death, despite appearing to have passed away conclusively.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Eric Wallace stated that bringing back all three actors for the final season was always part of their plans. He referred to Thawne’s appearance as a “very special one” that had been in the works for some time, and promised it would be a “wild and bittersweet episode.” Wallace also expressed excitement for Kennedy’s return as Nora, stating that she would be “taking her incredible portrayal of Nora West-Allen to even greater heights in a way the audience has never seen before.”
As of now, other guest stars from The Flash’s past nine seasons who will be returning include Stephen Amell and David Ramsey from Arrow, former Kid Flash Keiynan Lonsdale, and John Wesley Shipp. The final season will also feature actors from the wider Arrowverse, including Nicole Maines and Javicia Leslie, who will reprise their roles as Dreamer and Batwoman, respectively. However, it has been reported that Leslie will also play another character, the identity of which is currently kept secret.
The ninth and final season of The Flash will premiere on The CW on February 8th.
