The writers of Stranger Things have officially announced the resumption of production for season 5. Fans of the show can now exhale collectively as they eagerly anticipate the countdown to the next installment!
This exciting news follows the dramatic conclusion of the WGA strike, which wrapped up its final act on September 27th. After a heated standoff with Hollywood studios and streaming giants, the WGA has successfully reached an agreement. In an email to strike captains over the weekend, the Writers Guild of America proudly stated, “We can confidently say that this deal is outstanding, offering substantial improvements and safeguards for writers across all segments of our membership.”
Earlier today, the Stranger Things writers took to Twitter to deliver a thrilling update on season 5. They shared a mysterious image featuring the words “we’re back,” hinting that our return to the enigmatic world of the Upside Down is approaching steadily.

This signifies that the creative journey for Season 5 of Stranger Things, which was initially postponed due to the strike, is finally underway for the show’s writers. However, filming cannot commence at the moment because the actors’ union, SAG-AFTRA, is still in the midst of their strike. While the outcome of the SAG-AFTRA contract negotiations remains uncertain, the recent agreement reached by the WGA may potentially pave the way for a resolution.
Originally scheduled to begin production in May 2023, the start of filming for Stranger Things Season 5 was put on indefinite hold due to the WGA strike, which persisted for 146 days, causing significant delays. Additionally, in July, the actors’ union initiated their own strike, which is yet to be resolved.
It seems likely that it won’t be too long before the actors secure a similar deal with the studios and end their strike. Only then can we anticipate the commencement of filming for Stranger Things Season 5.
