The cast members of Sex Education are fulfilling their final obligations before moving on to new projects. Specifically, they are set to return for the fourth and concluding season of Netflix’s daring teen dramedy, slated for release on September 21. The official trailer suggests that the show will continue to excel in its signature style—placing its beloved characters in humorous yet educational sexual scenarios that help them gain insights into themselves and the complexities of growing up.
Maeve (Emma Mackey) and Otis (Asa Butterfield), the show’s ultimate couple, face challenges in their long-distance relationship, with Otis grappling with insecurities about explicit photos. Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) seems poised to leave behind his immature former bully-turned-boyfriend (Connor Swindells) as he explores new connections at clubs. Meanwhile, Aimee (Aimee Lou Wood) embarks on a journey of self-discovery through a personal journal.
However, our sex therapist protagonist, who once had no competition at Moordale, now finds himself in a larger and more competitive environment at his new school, contending with another sex therapist. As Otis wisely advises, “You should try to savor the journey; it won’t last forever.”
Following this, Gatwa is set to take the lead role in Doctor Who after his appearance alongside co-star Emma Mackey in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. It seems that Moordale provided quite a valuable education after all.
