The third season of “Only Murders in the Building” had its best performance on streaming, and “Suits” continued its strong summer run by setting a record for consecutive weeks with over 3 billion minutes of viewing.
In the week of August 7-13, the third season of “Only Murders in the Building” premiered on Hulu and had 719 million minutes of watch time. This was the highest viewership the show has ever achieved, marking a 24 percent increase from its previous record of 578 million minutes during the season two finale in August 2022. It ranked third among original series and ninth overall in Nielsen’s ratings.
“Suits” had an impressive summer run with 3.01 billion minutes of viewing on Netflix and Peacock. This achievement made it the first show in the three-year history of Nielsen’s weekly charts to consistently have 3 billion or more minutes watched for seven consecutive weeks. While other popular series like “Stranger Things” and “Wednesday” had higher peak viewership, they couldn’t maintain more than three consecutive weeks above the 3 billion-minute mark.
Netflix’s new series, “Painkiller,” had a strong debut, garnering 990 million minutes of viewing. “The Lincoln Lawyer” (1.42 billion minutes) remained the top original series for a second week. Additionally, Netflix’s movie release, “Heart of Stone,” featuring Gal Gadot, performed well with 966 million minutes of watch time in its first three days.
On Prime Video, “The Summer I Turned Pretty” continued to perform consistently, charting for the fifth consecutive week with 457 million minutes viewed.
It’s important to note that Nielsen’s streaming ratings only consider viewing on TV sets and do not include minutes watched on computers or mobile devices. These ratings also focus on U.S. audiences and do not account for viewership in other countries. Here are the top streaming titles for the week of August 7-13.
