Actress and stuntwoman Carrie Bernans was seriously injured in a hit-and-run in New York City at 1:30 AM on Monday. The incident occurred when a driver crashed into an outdoor dining shed at Chirp, a Peruvian restaurant in midtown Manhattan, injuring Bernans and eight others. Fortunately, her newborn son was not with her during the incident.
Bernans, known for her roles in “The Color Purple,” “Black Panther,” and “Avengers Infinity War/End Game,” is in stable condition and undergoing surgery. Her mother shared details of the traumatic incident on Instagram, revealing that Bernans is in a rough state.
In a recent Instagram post, Patricia Lee provided an update on Carrie Bernans’ condition after the traumatic incident in New York City. Lee mentioned that Bernans is currently unable to answer calls due to the pain but is healing. The incident involved a man in his early 40s attempting to escape a hit-and-run. He collided with multiple cars and hit a food stand where Bernans and her friend were walking, causing her to be knocked unconscious and trapped under the stand.
Despite the severity of the situation, Lee expressed gratitude that Bernans is alive. She suffered broken bones, fractures, and chipped teeth. Nine people, including three police officers, were injured in the hit-and-run incident. The perpetrator was arrested shortly after. Despite the challenges, Bernans remains hopeful and has faith in the unfolding of a new and beautiful chapter in her life.
Lee requested thoughts and prayers for Bernans’ recovery and thanked all the first responders, police, strangers, her friend Katherine, and family and friends who have provided support during this difficult time.
