Step aside, Steven Seigel. There’s a new badass in town and his name’s Tom Hardy. The Venom star has surprised everyone after entering a martial arts competition in Milton Keynes, England recently. He defeated everyone for real.
According to the Guardian, Hardy enrolled in the 2022 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Open Championship. He used the name Edward Hardy, which is why his presence came as a shock to opponents and spectators alike. The tournament was held at a high school gym in Milton Keynes.
Here’s a clip from the event:
Tom Hardy goes Warrior
If this feels like déjà vu, that’s because it is. Hardy starred in the 2011 MMA flick Warrior, and the storyline is somehow familiar to fans who watched it. He comes from nowhere to defeat everyone in the championship.

Here’s what a spokesperson from the championship said of Hardy:
“Everyone recognized him but he was very humble and was happy to take time out for people to take photographs with him. It was a real pleasure to have him compete at our event.”
What about his competitors? One of his opponents, Danny Appleby says:
“He’s a really strong guy. You wouldn’t think it with him being a celebrity. I do okay, I’ve done about six tournaments and I’ve been on the podium in everyone. But he’s probably the toughest competitor I’ve had – he certainly lived up to his Bane character, that’s for sure.”
We don’t know about you but it seems that a lot of people will be looking to take down Hardy now that he’s proven himself in the ring.
Not the first time
This is the second time this year that Tom Hardy competed in a martial arts event. It was only in August that he won the REORG Jiu-Jitsu championship crown in Wolverhampton, England.
