Star Wars: The Acolyte is an upcoming series based on the long-running space opera. Fans are in the dark what’s it about and where it is taking place. However, a new behind-the-scenes look may have given us some clues about the new show.
New photos from the set reveal a gritty town with confined walkways.
Star Wars: The Acolyte location
These images come courtesy of Bespin Bulletin. You can see a partially completed outdoor set at what is the Shinfield Studios, based in Berkshire in South East England.
A closer look reveals that the architecture and layout are reminiscent of Marvel and Disney+ shows that feature small desert communities.
Eagle-eyed fans say that these photos depict a town and not a whole metropolis. Like we have seen before in The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Plot details
It is not clear how the location fits with the plot details. What we do know is that Star Wars: The Acolyte is set over a 100 years before the movies. This puts it firmly during the High Republic era.
It is believed that the series will star a female lead and that it is intended as an action-thriller. Another source that’s close to production crews claims that we could finally see the much-feared Darth Plagueis in some capacity.
Cast
Word is that The Good Place star Manny Jacinto has joined the production. He joins Amandla Stenberg, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Lee Jung-jae. Jung-jae and Stenberg are reportedly playing the male and female leads.
As for the director, industry sources allege that Loki’s Kate Herron is currently in the midst of discussions to join the production. However, there is no official word on whether the signing is official or that it is still under process.
Star Wars: The Acolyte does not currently have a release date.
