South Side, the comedy created by Bashir Salahuddin, Diallo Riddle and Sultan Salahuddin, was not picked up for a fourth season by HBO Max.
After its debut on Comedy Central, South Side moved to HBO Max for its second season in November 2021. The show revolves around two friends who have just graduated from community college and are determined to make their mark on the world but are currently working at Rent-T-Own. The series is filmed in Chicago’s Englewood neighbourhood, offering viewers an authentic glimpse into life on the South Side.
An HBO Max spokesperson expressed pride in the world created by Bashir Salahuddin, Diallo Riddle, and Sultan Salahuddin, stating that while the streaming platform will not be continuing with South Side for a fourth season, they are grateful to Michael Blieden, Tony Hernandez, the cast and crew, and their partners at MTV Entertainment Studios. The spokesperson added that the show was able to expertly balance sharp social commentary on life in Chicago’s South Side with whimsical and sometimes absurd humour over three seasons. The result was a bold and one-of-a-kind comedy that could resonate with anyone pursuing the American dream.
The cast of South Side includes Bashir Salahuddin, Diallo Riddle, Kareme Young, Quincy Young, Chandra Russell, Zuri Salahuddin, and Nefetari Spencer. The series, produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, has executive producers in Bashir Salahuddin, Diallo Riddle, and Michael Blieden, with Tony Hernandez serving as executive producer for Jax Media. Ari Pearce, Kristyn Deignan, and Tara Power are producers for MTV Entertainment Studios.
