Back on the heels of reports that Blade has run into issues, Disney has announced that various Marvel movies will be delayed.
These movies include:
- Deadpool 3
- Avengers: Secret Wars
- Fantastic Four
- Blade
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the delays were announced right after Disney said it is pausing production on Blade. The vampire hunter movie lost director Bassim Tariq a few weeks before, and reports say that the lead Mahershala Ali was not thrilled with the bland script.
Marvel is still looking for a new director and script for the movie.
Marvel movies pushed back
Here are the new release schedules for the delayed movies:
- Blade – September 6, 2024 instead of November 3, 2023.
- Deadpool 3 – November 8, 2024 instead of November, 2023.
- Fantastic Four – February 14, 2025 instead of November 8, 2024.
- Avengers: Secret Wars – May 1, 2026 instead of November 7, 2025.
Interestingly, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty still retains its previous release date of May 2, 2025.
Marvel says the delays are a result of “continued shifts in our production schedule.” Tariq Basim still remains the executive producer of Blade.
What about the other movies?
Deadpool 3 is seeing a surge in positive interest after Ryan Reynolds revealed Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will reprise his role in the threequel.
Fantastic Four has WandaVision writer Michael Waldron as the director. Not much is known about the cast even though John Krasinki played the variant for Mister Fantastic in Dr. Strange 2. There’s no word if he will be back as one of the smartest men in the Marvel universe.
Not much is known about Avengers: Secret Wars. It will close out Phase 6 of Marvel movies. And once again, Michael Waldron is the only one publicly announced to be involved with the project. As for The Kang Dynasty, Shang-chi helmer Destin Daniel Cretton will be taking over as the director.
