According to a story in the Spanish newspaper Marca, singer Ricky Martin’s brother Eric Martin has revealed that the accuser is the artist’s nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, over a week after it was made public that an unnamed man had supposedly filed a domestic violence restraining order against him in Puerto Rico.
The accused victim’s identity was kept secret when the complaint was first made by Law 54, also known as the Domestic Abuse Prevention and Intervention Act.
Sanchez, 21, said that Martin did not take his decision to stop their seven-month relationship well and kept hanging around outside his house and repeatedly reaching out to him.
He continued by saying that physical and mental abuse occurred during their relationship.
“The allegations against Ricky Martin that lead to a protection order are completely false and fabricated, we are very confident that when the true facts come out in this matter our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated.”
said by a representative for Martin in a statement.
Martin said the accusations against him were untrue on July 4 via Twitter
“The protection order entered against me is based on completely false allegations, so I will respond through the judicial process with the facts and the dignity that characterize me.
Because it is an ongoing legal matter, I cannot make detailed statements at this time. I am grateful for the countless messages of solidarity, and I receive them with all my heart.”
