If you’ve been clamoring for news about HBO Max’s Our Flag Means Death season 2, your wait is finally over. According to recent reports, the series is set to resume production and begin airing its sophomore season in the near future.
Samba Schutte, the lead of the series, has announced on Instagram that filming for season two of the historical pirate comedy has wrapped up.
Schutte’s post on Instagram is very brief, with only a photo of a clapperboard that says “Take 1” and “That’s a wrap,” followed by the name of the comedy series. Underneath the photo is a message from Schutte thanking the cast and crew for their hard work.
The caption reads:
“Absolute gratitude, honor, joy and love for the sweetest crew and the greatest cast. Oh the things to come. @dvidjenkins @taikawaititi @rhysiedarby ~ thank you.”
About Our Flag Means Death Season 2
“Our Flag Means Death” is a historical comedy series set during the Golden Age of Piracy. It follows Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby), a gentleman pirate who leaves his simple life behind to prove himself at sea.
Blackbeard, played by Taika Waititi, is one of the many famous characters Bonnet and his crew encounter on their adventures. Schutte plays Roach, the Revenge’s cook.
David Jenkins, the creator, and writer of the series, previously released a small tease of the upcoming season when he took to social media to post an image of the script for Season 2’s premiere episode.

The series’ executive producers for the upcoming season include Waititi and Jenkins, who are joined by Basch and Halsted. A change from the first season as regards the cast will see Guz Khan, who previously played one of Blackbeard’s crewmates, Ivan, not returning in the upcoming season.
