Hollywood actor and Moon Knight himself Oscar Isaac has confirmed that we haven’t seen the last of his white-clad vigilante in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, he remains tight-lipped on where and when his supernatural anti-hero will return.
Isaac was asked during an interview at the ongoing New York Comic Con 2022 if there’s a new season planned for Moon Knight on Disney+. He declined to confirm. However, he said, “I don’t think it’s– All I can say is that it’s not the last we’ve heard of the system that is Moon Knight.”
He can be heard making these remarks in the following tweet:
Oscar Isaac will be Moon Knight again
Moon Knight premiered its inaugural season on Disney+ on March 30. It aired for six episodes. Oscar Isaac played Marc Spector, who is a mercenary but also an avatar for the Egyptian God Khonshu. Spector suffers from dissociative identity disorder (DID). His role also included portrayals of a mild-mannered gift shop salesperson Steven Grant and the violent persona Jake Lockley.
Fans were impressed by Oscar Isaac’s portrayal of a man who is ravaged by trauma, and how it plays into his psyche.
Is Disney+ shifting to standalone stories?
Even though the series is set in the MCU, fans, and critics saw it as a standalone story. Reportedly, Oscar only signed up for a single season, with no plans to reprise his role in the future. However, fan support has been positive and there are now murmurs that we haven’t seen the last of Isaac’s Moon Knight.
Disney+ is set to launch more self-contained stories like Moon Knight. It recently premiered Werewolf by Night, a monochrome-infused horror special set in the MCU. It is fitting because Marc Spector himself made his comic book debut in an issue of Marvel Comics’ Werewolf by Night in 1975.
Marvel’s Moon Knight is available for streaming on Disney+.
