Michael Keaton wins his first Emmy for the best lead actor in a limited series. The famous actor also took this opportunity to clarify how he feels about Batgirl getting canceled.
He believes that financial considerations, not creative, led to the DCEU production getting axed. “I think it was a business decision. I’m going to assume it was a good one. I really don’t know.”
His comments come in the backdrop of fan dismay over the abrupt decision to cancel the movie. A month ago, senior leadership at the newly merged WB-Discovery, decided not to move forward with the $90 million production. Batgirl starred Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl. Other cast members include Keaton reprising his role as Batman, J.K. Simmons, and Brendan Fraser.

He thanked his family in his acceptance speech:
“My folks weren’t exactly patrons of the arts. We weren’t patrons of anything, frankly. But I want to thank them. I just want to thank all those people in my family for never making me feel foolish, because I went on to do that several times myself. That’s the thing about feeling foolish and making a fool of yourself and making mistakes, there’s huge power and merit in that. I’m glad I made a fool of myself over and over and over again.”
Will Keaton appear as Batman in future movies?
The press asked the Emmy winner when he will appear as Batman next.
He joked, “A little later tonight, probably, if you’re lucky enough.”
