Doom Patrol fans felt really sad when they found out that the current fourth season of the Max drama, which continues on Thursday, Oct. 12 with two new episodes, will be its final season. However, there is some good news in this unfortunate situation.
The show’s creator, Jeremy Carver, tells us, “We kind of had a feeling that Season 4 might be our last from the beginning. Our main goal was to end the series on our own terms, with a conclusion that feels right and, most importantly, to wrap up the characters’ stories thoughtfully, without rushing.”
Fans of Doom Patrol can relax knowing that the main characters in the show will get the endings they should have. However, Jeremy Carver, the show’s creator, mentions that the idea of “closure” can be different for each person. He says, “Our fans can anticipate endings that feel authentic, and that’s the best we can guarantee.”
Continuing from where the first part of Season 4 ended, the premiere on Thursday shows Cliff, Vic, and Jane fighting their way through a strange dimension filled with scissor-people. They’re doing this to try and stop Immortus and get back Larry’s long life. Rita and Rouge also get in on the action, but not before they have quite a few drinks and share a significant bonding moment.
Actually, in these last episodes, we get a close look at the uncertain friendship between Rita and Rouge. Jeremy Carver, the show’s creator, assures us that there are many more developments in this complex and grown-up relationship. And, of course, there’s more drinking too.
Carver says the hardest part of making these eight episodes wasn’t figuring out how to finish the show, but coming to terms with the fact that the show was ending.
“The most challenging part was realizing it was time to say ‘goodbye,'” Carver says. “We created these characters to be together, face challenges together, and make mistakes together, forever.”
