What will happen in Superman & Lois season 3?
At the end of season 2 of Superman & Lois, John Diggle (played by David Ramsey), who is an alternate version of the Arrowverse character, hinted at a new villain while meeting with John Henry Irons (Wolé Parks) at a diner in Smallville. Irons is from a parallel universe where Earth was destroyed but later became an ally to Superman and Lois in their reality after some initial conflict.
In this reality, the native Irons died years ago under mysterious circumstances, and Diggle informs him that Bruno Mannheim, a notorious criminal and head of the organization Intergang, is likely responsible for his death. Despite Mannheim’s reputation as a local hero and philanthropist who revitalized the struggling neighborhoods of Metropolis, Lois Lane has been working to expose him as a career criminal.
Although showrunner Todd Helbing has promised that Mannheim will be a significant antagonist in season 3, the inclusion of the well-known comic book villain Lex Luthor may overshadow him. The CW’s synopsis reveals that this new version of Luthor seeks revenge on Superman and Lois for what he perceives as a personal injustice.
Meanwhile, in a less high-stakes development, Helbing stated that high schoolers Jordan Kent and Sarah Cushing will have grown apart in season 3, as is common in teenage relationships. Although Jordan will always have feelings for Sarah and she will hold a special place in her heart for him, they will not be together as the season progresses. However, it remains to be seen if they will reconcile in the future.
Why did Jordan Elsass leave Superman & Lois?
Last year, fans of Superman & Lois were disappointed to learn that Jordan Elsass, who played the couple’s eldest son Jonathan Kent, had left the series due to personal reasons.
In a June 2022 Instagram post, the actor shared that he was struggling with mental health and well-being and had decided to seek professional help, despite the fact that he barely had any time to spend with family and friends before the third season began filming.
Two months later, it was announced that the role of Jonathan Kent would be recast for season 3. Elsass later responded to Cameo, acknowledging that it was sad and a shame, but he emphasized the importance of mental health and stated that he needed time for himself.
He also mentioned that he was considering quitting acting altogether, though there has been no update on that decision.
