Behind Us, a Cliff – On their journey to corral a herd of cattle, Thomas and Shea are confronted with some of the many dangers they will face. Along the way, they recruit James and some local cowboys to help them.
River – James argued with Shea and Thomas about a crucial decision. Tensions in the camp grew when an accusation was made. Elsa began flirting with a cowboy.
The Crossing – The group must cross the river with their wagons and supplies, a daunting task. Thomas and Noemi grow closer as they work together.
The Fangs of Freedom – After Shea and Thomas cross the river, they grapple with the aftermath, grieving for what was lost. Ahead of them lies more challenges. Elsa and Ennis have a moment together where they feel closeness and love.
Boring the Devil – Shea comforts Elsa as they experience loss. The group then crosses another river and is almost to Indian territory. Thomas buys a present for Noemi.
Lightning Yellow Hair – Elsa befriends someone you wouldn’t expect; the group comes up against a difficult challenge from nature; the campers look for one of their own.
The Weep of Surrender – An extensive choice faces Elsa as Shea begins to question everything.

The series’s pilot episode opens with a group of stereotypical Native Americans attacking a wagon convoy. I hoped an unanticipated twist would be unveiled before the main narrative caught up. The rest of the series is full of cowpokes, expertly adjusted Stetsons, and talk of dangerous gun-toting mobs. Sheridan’s thesis can be quickly summarized as “Man, the Old West was rough,” which is sure to come as a revelation to anybody who hasn’t seen a Clint Eastwood film, Deadwood, or played Oregon Trail.”
Meta Critic writes, “Yellowstone” has always had more senior ranch hand feel like Sam Elliott should be in the series. So it’s only natural that Sheridan weaved him into “Yellowstone’s” DNA through Forrie J. Smith playing his stunt double. We know where things are eventually headed, but that doesn’t make the journey any less fun or interesting.”
